Playing hostess, Mayor Byrne passes a piece of cake she sliced at a ceremony marking the opening of City House at McCormick Place/Donnelley Hall. Assisting her is the cake maker, Thomas J. Vitello. The free exhibit, designed to help homeowners with remodeling plans, runs through 7 p.m. Sunday. "Jane Margaret Byrne (born May 24, 1934) was the first and to date only female Mayor of Chicago. She served from April 16, 1979 to April 29, 1983. Chicago is the largest city in the United States to have had a female mayor as of 2011." (Wikipedia)
