Chicago - Women's Army Corps Veterans' Assn - Rita Peterson enlisted in1943 and her first assignment after completing basic training was the job of secretary to Master Sgt. "Pete" Peterson at Fort White, Oregon. Rita next was sent to Europe, where she earned a battle star, but she and her former boss kept in touch by sending Christmas cards. They later married. Mrs. Gustav Peterson now lives in Glenview with her husband and two daughters.Chicago Daily News Photo
