Everett Knowles Jr., of Somerville, smiles happily as he studies in his home after physicians announced he is making sufficient progress with his once-severed limb so that an expected operation has been cancelled. Everett has made surgical history by growing his right arm back on again following a train accident in which he was brushed off a freight train. His arm was severed near the shoulder.
