Note author Peter B. Kyne, creator of the character Cappy Ricks, died of cancer in The Veterans Hospital. He was 77. Kyne was stricken with the disease 2 years ago, bringing to an end a writing carrer which spanned nearly half a century. He wrote over 25 full length novels and more than a 1,000 short stories and articles.
