1934 Press Photo Interior of Delgado Museum in City Park, New Orleans

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The Delgado Museum in City Park owes its existence to the fact that Isaac Delgado, who came into the possession of a collection of art treasures at the death of his aunt, could not bear to think of these objects d'art being scattered after his death. In 1910 he gave $150,000 for the erection of a museum, and in 1911 the present museum was opened, only a short time before the death of its donor. The museum became known as the New Orleans Museum of Art in September 1971.

Photo is dated 1934.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
