Mohammed Hatta, President Sukarno and Sjafruddin Prawiranegara, from left to right, are the central figures in Indonesia today as the country is carried into revolution and possible civil war caused essentially by economic troubles. Hatta, a former vice president, and Sukarno are heroes of Indonesian independence. Prawiranegara was named premier by Sumatra, rebels who set up a revolutionary government in the jungle hills at Bukittinggi.
