Lt. Col. Harry Ward (center) divisional commander of the Salvation Army for the Louisiana-Arkansas area, and Lester Gerson (left), chairman of the Salvation Army's Disaster Committee, accept a Certificate of Participation from William J. Erikson, aid to Mayor Victor H. Schiro, in a ceremony at the Sheraton-Charles Hotel Thursday. The Salvation Army was awarded the certificate for its outstanding relief work in South Louisiana during and after the visit of Hurricane Hilda.
