A photograph from the bow of Mike Holzhauer's ice boat captured the speed with which the craft crossed the lake. The wondrous winters in Wisconsin offer a variety of pastimes - from staying curled up on the couch to taking full advantage of the cold, ice and snow for a vigorous afternoon of fun. Although there are still many areas of thin ice, after several weeks of cold temperatures many lakes have a safe covering of ice making them ideal winter playgrounds. Pewaukee Lake was crowded with people Sunday taking advantage of the recreational opportunities the frozen water had to offer. Ice boats and ice fisherman were in abundance as well as snowmobilers and one hardy group used the open space for a friendly softball game.
