Marshal and Ilsley Corporation stockholders at their annual meeting Tuesday heard officers of the bank holding company report on improved business conditions and the outlook for continued gains. J. A. Puelicher, president and board chairman, said the recent economic recession, although it was hard on society, had a salutary effect in that "some of the excesses that have built up in our system and economy" were shaken out, and the banking industry has returned to sounder principals.
