1984 Press Photo Several technicians worked on stage at the Riverside Theater

Description
Workers got ready this week to put the finishing touches on the Riverside Theater. Several technicians worked on the stage, minus the new curtain, while another worker finished cleaning the new seats. The opulent vaudeville and movie theater was built in 1928 and occupies a large portion of the Empire Building at Plankinton and Wisconsin Avenues. Visitors of the "new" Riverside will see the product of thousands of hours of work and $1.5 million in expense. Renovation has included the refurbishing and reupholstering of all 2,500 seats; restoration of the ornate plaster work and iron trim; remodeling of dressing rooms, offices and restrooms; the addition of concession areas; replacement of plumbing, air conditioning and electrical systems; and the application of a handsome rose and burgundy paint scheme. Major contracting work was performed by KM Developers, a subsidiary of Towne Realty. Negative # 840940
