1985 Press Photo The Greenfield Jaycettes give plants to nursing home residents

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Jack Frost lost out to the enterprising Greenfield Jaycettes this fall. Members of the group followed an "Operation Jack Frost" project offered by the welfare chairman, Mrs. James C. Devitt, 6151 South Root River parkway, Greenfield. They removed blooming perishable plants from their gardens before the frost settled them, and presented the plants to residents of the Mount Carmel nursing home, 4630 South 60th Street, Greenfield. The women enlisted the help of several retail florists and other stores who contributed plants, pots, ribbons, and foil. Mount Carmel resident Mrs. Mary Jankowski accepted one of the 150 plants from Mrs. Devitt recently when the Jaycettes made the gift presentation.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 10-25-1985.
