San Francisco Disaster. Earthquake and conflagration struck the city of San Francisco on April 18, 1906, leaving in their wake devastation such as this. Approximately 500 persons were killed and property damage was estimated at $350,000,000. the scene, taken from the ferry building, shows workmen placing temporary street car tracks for reconstruction, while the city still smoldered.
