Description
A Zebra Crossing: Whats this - A donkey in football socks? Well unfortunately, there's not much chance of Manchester United singing up this star, because the truth of the mystery is that this animal has the legs of a Zebra and the body of an Ass. The animal, in fact is called a Zeedonk, or what you might call a Zebra crossing. Demelsea is the pride and joy of her parents, 5 year old Father Zebra Whiskey and 3 year old Mother Donkey Jenny. Both of them have been taking part in experiments to try and crossbreed these two particular animals. Zedonks are very playful animals and are great favourites with the visitors that come to Colchester zoo. But there could be a more important, long term benefit that could emerge from this breeding experiment. In Africa, experts have been trying to breed an animal that would have the resistance of a Zebra, but would also do the work of of a donkey. An animal of this kind would enable it to fight off such things as tsetse fly and other such parasites. The key to the great success at Colchester, is that the mother, Jenny is an Arabian donkey and this type of donkey has not been used before, Meanwhile of course, Demelsa totally unaware of why she is so special, future giving pleasure to the visitors to Colchester zoo. One happy family together at Colchester Zoo. Father is a 5 year old Zebra called Whiskey and Mother is a 3 year old Arabian Donkey called Jenny. Not forgetting the lady with the stripes Demelsa, a Zedonk.
