Africa Gets A new Bishop From America: Roman Catholics in the Accra Diocese of the Gold Coast, the British African Colony is moving rapidly towards self-government, have just received a Bishop from the United States - the Rt. Reerend Joseph Bowers. Born in Dominica, British West Indies, the 43-year-old Bishop entered a seminary in the United States at the age of 18, joined the Society of Divine Word in 1939 and was ordinates after a year of special study in Rome.
