London's Tallest Flats Nearly Ready For Occupation. Prefabs In Foreground.: Tenants are expected soon to move into London's tallest flats. They are six 18 storey blocks now under construction for the London County Council on the Brandon Estate, Southwark. The first blocks are nearly ready. work was started on them two years ago. Each block contains 64 two bedroom flats and four penthouses at the top of the 170ft. high towers. The blocks will form part of a giant new estate covering 36 acres - which, when completed - will provide accommodation for 5,000 people. Total cost of the project is estimated at about `3,500,000. Photo shows A strong contrast is presented by this picture - showing some of the almost completed blocks of flats -with in foreground - some of the prefabricated houses erected at the end of the war. These will soon disappear.
