American Architect Acclaims Poplar's Trinity Church Abone Of The Six Beat Ec~~ples Of Post War Ecclesiastical Architecture: A leading American architecture, Mr. G.E. Kidder Smith, has named popular new Trinity Church, as one of the six best examples of post-war ecclesiastical architecture in Europe. It represents according to a leading Journal, "an important step in British design" It is based on "an unusual and striking exposed concrete frame - a kind of twentieth century flying buttress from which the roof is suspended." Five-eight of the cost came from compensation for the loss of the old church, buil in mid 19th century and destroyed by a flying bomb in 1946. The remainder came from the congregation and appeals.
