Now Gordonstounm helps the local community: The Hahn-Gordonstoum idea is that a school should not isolate itself but serve the community in which it exists. The young always respond to challenge and rescue work is such an inspiration. Therefore, in addition to the usual C.C.P. the School runs an efficient Coastguard Unit intergrated with the H.M. Coastguard of the area; a Fire Service, a Unit of the National Fire Brigade; a Mountain Rescue Unit and a Surf-Life-Saving Unit, ready at any time. Like father...Prince Charles will go to Gordonstour: At last the news is out: Prince Charles will go to Gordonstoun, his father's old school on the Morey Firthin Scotland. At the beginning of the summer term he will join Windmill Lodge, a house wih 60 boys at the £519-a-year, 400 pupil tough school. His headmaster will be Mr. F.R.G. Chew, who has run the school since 1959. The main aim of Gordonstoun, founded in by Dr. Kurt Hahn, is the development of character and initiative, with strong emphasis on self-discipline and physical endurance. There is no reason to expect that Prince Charles will enjoy any special priviliedged while his at the school.
