1960 Press Photo Lady Mountbatten presents cheque on behalf of the NSPCC

Lady Mountbatten presents cheque on behalf of the NSPCC: Countess Mountbaten of Burma (formerly Lady Brabourne). Who has made a recovery folling the incident last August in which her father Lord Mountbatten, her mother-in-law, the Dowager Lady Brabourne and her twin son, Bicholas Knatchbull died, asked that instead of flowers, contributkons to commemmorate the name of Nicholas should be used to further the work of teh NXPCC. Donations to this charity, of which the Countess is Deputy Vice Chairman have now reached £1,733,51. Dountess Mountbatten's wish is that the money be used to provide holidays for deprived and bereaved children chosed from amongst those being helped by NSPCC in Northern Ireland from both Protestant and Catholic Families. Photo shows Lady Mountbatten with Mr. Bob Fryer, the Society's Regional Casework Supervisor for Northern Ireland after receiving the first cheque on behalf of his colleages in Ulster at an informal ceremony in London today.
