Pals: Racehorse Charmed Spirit doesn't need a nanny. So Rufus the billy goat is out of a job. For the past two and a half years Rufus has been on hand to keep the horse calm before a big race. But now Charmed Spirit is about to foal and that will make her goat friend redundant. His owner Leonard Fowell (24) from Chudleigh, Devon explained: "Charmed Spirit used to get so nervous before a big race we couldn't get her into the box, making it impossible to travel to the meets." So I decided to put Rufus in the box with her and he worked the magic straight away. It's been the same ever since. "Rufus seems to have some sort of natural influence on horses. I've taken some sort of natural influence on horses. I've taken him to other stables in the area and he seems to pull it off everywhere we go, It is incredible to watch.
