Operational Display Of Military Electronic Equipment shown to European Defence Experts: Representatives from Commonwealth, North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and European Defence Community countries were visitors to the three day operational display of Britain's latest military electronic equipment held at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough. The display, sponsored by the ministry of Supply and organised by the R~dio Communication and Electronic Engineering Association was the first of its kind ever held. The Minister of Supply in a statement at the opening of the display said: "Great Britain was the first country to create a radio industry and wear proud of the fact that in som many ways she is still leading the world both in research and in high quality manufacture. British electronic equipment is at present being supplied to the air forces of 19 countries and to civil airlines all over the world." He said "The object of the display is to make known to delegates from N.A.T.C., E.D.C. and the Commonwealth the wide range of military electronic equipment which our industry can provide. Exhibits at the display cover fixed and mobile radio communication sets, telephone apparatus, radio navigational sides, rader equipment components and valves. Army equipment on display includes tanks showing signals and gun control equipment, and electronically controlled tank turret and signal equipment vehicles of various kinds. The automatic training of an anti-aircraft gun on its target by radar was demonstrated together with the latest electronic equipment installed in the Canberra light bomber and in other aircraft. Airfield radar and control equipment were also shown. The Minister of Supply in his speech at the opening a~~cred the delegates from overseas "that they won't go far wrong if they buy from this British electronic industry's shop window.
