1970 Press Photo Del-Noi-Eh-Nit-Que-O-Mah - Mrs. Iwowski - & The Ceremonial Pipe

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
This ceremonial pipe... ... is a present from film-Winnetou Pierre Brice to Klare Iwowski (our picture, showing in the background a photo of the legendary chieftain of the Apaches Geronimo), a 76 year old lady from Berlin. Recently she also got a letter from the President of the Indian Ligs in Northern America, where he gave her the Indian name "Del-Noi-Eh-Nit-Que-O-Mah", and that is why she is wearing Indian decoration. As far as we know it, Mrs. Iwowski is the only woman apart from lady May, who had the honour of getting this special name. The wife of Karl May was given, in 1929, the name of "Sha-Lu-Wa" by big chieftain White Horse Eagle. Since 8 years Klare Iwowski is interested in the history and problems of the Indians, and she is trying to help them. Her correspondence to this purpose is enormous and the result has been a little material aid for these "victims of civilisation".

Photo measures 8.25 x 6 inches.

Photo is dated 04-04-1970.
