The Army puts on a pantomime: The Commanding Officer of 42 Survey Regiment Royal Engineers, Lieutenant-Colonel Stanley Island, wanted to do something different this Christmas. So he called in Sergeant Frank Patterson who had been running his own local pop group. ''Would it be possible to stage a pantomime?. Sergeant Patterson said ''we'll do it''. Some months later,it has become clear that the Army has a real flair for showbusiness. The Survey Engineers Robinson Crusee'' at Barton Stacey Camp, near Andover, Hants is an impressive production. The old camp cinema doesn't look the same. It looks like a South Sea island. Jungle, palms three acts, seven scenes four scene changes. Music, bright lights, dancing girls (by courtesy of the Heather Osman School of Dancing Winchester). A free show tomorrow for school children and old people. Another show on Monday in aid of Charity. The whole project took many weeks of hard work '' an all of it was carried out in the soldiers own time after duty hours". Photo shows on parade: the well turned-out cast of an Army production of Robinson Crusee.
