Description
Teaching The Deaf and Partially Deaf: Deaf School teacher William Brown labours at teaching Kim Hatch, 13, and Stephen Follenfant, 13, using microphone and earphones as aids because both boys have partial hearing in the lower ranges. This makes sound to them like a symphony played without any of the bass notes. Their speech, therefore, is merely a series of grunts in place of fluid speech. highly amplified sound is used to re-establish their faith in their own voices and to link up what they hear with something of meaning. Teacher Brown uses deaf signs as well as lip reading and voice to get his points over to them.
