Description
"The Lethet" - A Pharaoh Temple For Italy. After more than four thousand years, the Lethet Temple, constructed by Thutmose III at the foot of a mountain in Nubia, is to leave for Italy where it will be re-erected at the Museum of Turin in recognition of Italy's participation in the salvage of Nubian monuments before they are submerged by Nile water. Iran and Italian archaeologists are working side by side with over a hundred labourers to dismantle the temple and pack its parts to be shipped to Italy. The Temple is 5.50 metres long and five metres wide. It will give visitors to the museum the very shape as if it were there four thousand years ago. Photo Shows:- Work under-way for the dismantling of the Lethet Temple and the transfer of its blocks in preparation for shipping to Turin, Italy.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.

Photo is dated 12-12-1965.
