Five men charged with conspiring to drug horses. Sir Gordon Richard's stable lads give evidence - Five men were accused at Newbury court yesterday of conspiring with Bertie Rogers a stable lad who shot himself and others to give drugs to horses so as to effect their performances. A number of stable lads employed by Sir Gordon Richards the trainer went into the witness box to describe how they were handed powders to give to the horses. They all said the powders came from Bert Woodage a jockey employed by Sir Gordon. Woodage is one of the accused. Keystone Photo Shows: James Boyce (38) ex-stable lad one of the accused.
