July 12th-13th 1981: Meeting between the French President Mitterand and the West German Chancellor Helmut Scmidt in Bonn West Germany.
On July 12th and 13th 1981 the 38th German French consultations took place in Bonn. It was a fact of the first German-French summit meeting after the change of power in France. The meeting between the West German Helmut Schmidt and the French President Francois Mitterand has shown a high degree of continuity in the relations of both countries. The seven ministers who accompanied the French President and the Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy have had parallel talks with their West German colleagues. The main subjects of the 38th consultations have been the international economic summit on July 20th and 21st in Ottawa, the north south relations, the east west relations, the disarmament as well as the reform of budget and agriculture in the European community.
