Description
Archaeologist Donald L Hamilton displays Chinese Fo dogs, symbols of good luck, that were recovered off Port Royal, Jamaica. The figurines probably were made in the mid-17th Century. At right, the keys that archaeologist James Parent holds are far apart in time. The top key, seemingly antique, is made of epoxy that was inserted into the heavy encrustation that covered what was the original iron key which has long since deteriorated. The smaller brass key survived 200 years of salt water submersion. Texas A&M University-Institute of Nautical Archaeology archaeologist Donald Hamilton
