Description
Fighting a simulated oil type Christmas tree fire Houston fireman spent the day last Tuesday at the department Academy training field near William P. Hobby Airport practicing skills they hope they will never have to use. They practiced techniques for fighting liquid petroleum gas fires. The day's program included a demonstration by Ranger-Pan American insurance companies, leading insurer of LPG installations, which conducts fire schools for employees for the butane propane industry and municipal fire department. Tuesday's session was an actual exercise in fighting LPG fires involving a 500-gallon propane tank and a multi pronged "Christmas tree" as demonstrated here. About 1000 gallons of propane were burned.
