The 33,000-ton aircraft carrier Wasp, above, is among United States (U.S.) 6th fleet units which left Naples on sudden orders, presumably to support the landing of Marines at Lebanon. This is a 1956 photograph of the Wasp, biggest ship among the more than two dozen American naval vessels sailing in the Mediterranean under undisclosed orders.
