Taps for serial number. The Army issued its last soldier's serial number locally to Edwin Halbrook, 18, of Vidor, who inspects Hartley B. Edwards' horn. Edwards, 73, of Denison, bugler for General John J. Pershing, attended the induction ceremony here Monday for Halbrook. The Army and Air Force are now using Social Security numbers in place of serial numbers. Army United States U.S. Texas.
