1970 Press Photo Seagulls Lined Up On Stewart Beach, Galveston, Texas

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
There really is something to this bird-watching business as shown by these two photographs taken on Galveston's Stewart Beach if your imagination is vivid. Above, the tough "sergeant" circles over his charges, possible barking, "Straighten that line!"" The bottom picture is more passive and might lull a bird watcher to sleep. Is he imagining things, or is that thing hovering in the air a gull or is it a dream? The next time you are on the beach at Galveston, watch the gulls as they appear to be imitating humans - hopping and skipping on the sand, testing the water, gawking at the bathers, waders and sunners, always seeking food and screaming at humans when there is a need for it. Sea gulls.

Photo is dated 1970.

Photo measures 10 x 6.5 inches.
