Description
The Lockheed Deep Quest research submarine, resembling some underwater predator, works in shallow water off Santa Catalina Island near the Southern California coast. The craft can carry four men and up to 7000 pounds of payload to depths of 8000 feet. Later this month the 50-ton submersible, carrying Lockheed and Lehigh University scientists, will research a half-square-mile of ocean bottom off the coast of San Diego. Oceanography.
