1960 Press Photo Sea Lions John Ball Zoo Grand Rapids

Description
Caption: Chow time for three new sea lions in Grand Rapids' John Ball Zoo means gulping fresh-water herring at midafternoon. Two of the sea lions jumped out of their moat over an eight-foot wall recently for an unscheduled tour of the zoo. A third - dubbed Faint-Hearted by attendants - stayed put while his buddies waddle around under cover of darkness. Harry Maxim feeds the sea lions who finally are learning to like their new home. A higher barrier, hastily installed the day after wanderers slipped away, is keeping the sea lions where they belong.
