1960 Press Photo Khrushchev Nikita Macmilla Disarmament

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: Rubber Ball Khrushchev bounced up to interrupt with protest while Macmillan was speaking. The British Prime Minister had asked for a calm approach to the problem of disarmament and it apparently wasn't to the Soviet Premier's liking. But the General Assembly gave Macmillan a big hand at the conclusion of his address. Nikita sat still and just looked on glumly.
