Caption: GM DEMONSTRATES SATURN SMALL CAR - General Motors Chairman Roger B. Smith (left) and President F. James McDonald with the operating prototype of the General Motors Saturn small car which was demonstrated for the news media on January 8, 1985, at the GM Technical Center in Warren, Mich. At that time, GM announced creation of a separate subsidiary to assume operational responsibility for Saturn which was established as an experimental project in 1982. a two-door coupe and four-door sedan are being developed, reflecting many inventions and engineering innovations. Smaller and lighter than Current GM "J" subcompacts, Saturn models will have comparable interior room.
