Description
Caption: Cape Canaveral, Fla. - Hurricane Satellite Launched - Three-stage, 92-foot Thor-Delta rocket blasts off into early morning sky today with 285-foot Tiros III weather satellite tucked in its no(?). Two hours later, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced the satellite was successfully in orbit. Satellite carries two television cameras to photograph cloud cover as a means of determining what causes our weather. Launching was timed so Tiros III can photograph hurricane-breeding grounds during peak season.
