Description
Caption: NIMBUS VIEW OF THE WEATHER--The U.S. weather satellite Nimbus II, launched earlier today from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, sent this picture back to earth to be recorded at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration center at Greenbelt, Md. The picture was received at 12:22 p.m., EDT, about nine hours after launch. It takes in 1 1/2-million square miles of the eastern seaboard, viewing the Chesapeake Bay, the Great Lakes, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Florida Peninsula.
