Caption: Vernon Jordan, president of the National Urban League, warned Sunday on a ?Face the Nation? TV interview that the conditions causing urban unrest in the 1960s still exist, and blacks could begin a new period of street protests. Saying he deplored violent demonstrations. Jordan added that protests could revitalize concern for black conditions. In other comments, the black leader criticized government budget cuts, saying, ?There must be a recognition that unemployment is equally important as inflation.?.
