Caption: Roy Johnson holds up a pencil sketch of the "Discoverer" satellite which he announced would soon be sent into space from a California site. The director of the Advance Research Project Agency told newsmen at a Pentagon conference of a planned series of launchings, with some satellites carrying mice and monkeys, from the new Vandenberg base. The first launcing will attempt to put up a 1300 pound device.
