Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: Demonstrating how easy it is to take the new oral polio vaccine is Curtis Marshall, of Wayne State University's Medical School. He was one of more than 1,000 persons who ate sugar cubes containing the vaccine as part of a pilot program held Friday in the headquarters of the Wayne County Medical Society. He followed the same procedure that will be used for the mass immunization drives in schools on Sunday, April 19.
