Description

Caption: To Probe Venus Atmosphere. The drawing shows a multi probe spacecraft proposed for intensive study of the Venus atmosphere beginning in 1978. The plantnetary exploration program will be carried out by two separately launched spacecraft. The Large probe will descend thru the Venus atmosphere by parachute to an altitude of about 44 kilometers where it will jettison to parachute and free fall to the planet's weather at locations 5,000 miles apart.
