Caption: Whatever the weather, John Saber sits on his porch on Kanter Street, watching Poletown disappear. Saber always was the neighborhood character; now he is the neighborhood?s only character. At one time, he and neighbor Henry Michalski took up arms to scare off vandals and scavengers. Finally Michalski moved. Another friend, 92-year-old Stanley Danieluk, held out for months next door to Saber before his family moved him out.
