1990 Press Photo Pigeon Hill Sand Dunes

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: Pigeon Hill sand dunes near Holland and Muskegon. Taken in Muskegon in the area known as the Pigeon Hill dune Formation area. This dune was owned by the Sand Products Corporation of Detroit and they mined 6,000 tons a week of sand out of the dune reducing it to flatness. They left behind some old rusted machinery. A marina was developed near the site and there is a proposal to add another marina and condominiums to what is left of the dune. One half of the land is still owned by Sand Products. John Darien Homes, Inc. is the developer that wants to work on the land.
