Caption: When Nickie McWhirter was a child, she believed that there were monsters living under her beds at night, but not during the day. They were dark brown, furry creatures, about the size of her mother's largest mixing bowl, with black eyes and sharp teeth. Their appendages were like tentacles with claws. They could only grab you by the arms and legs. They were afraid of lights and adults, so she asked for a night light and made sure she was covered fully by bed sheets.
