Caption: Studies of the new Prime Minister - Sixty-two-year-old HOWARD MACMILLAN, long a top man in British Conservative Party politics, is shown in a series of studies before he was named prime minister today to succeed Sir Anthony Eden. From left, he addresses the United Nations as British foreign secretary in June, 1955; chats with colleague at the U.N. in September, 1955; stands outside Treasury in London in February, 1956, as chancellor of the exchequer; jokes with a foreign office colleague in June, 1955, and sits at his desk as defense minister in October, 1954.
