Description
Caption: WASHINGTON, Nov.18--NOW.LADIES:--"Woodman, spare that tree" was in effect the plea that these clubwomen left at the White house today after asking President Roosevelt to prevent removal of some of the famed Japanese cherry trees for a proposed $3,000,000 memorial to Thomas Jefferson. They are shown (above) as they came to the presidential secretary, Marvin McIntyre with their petition and, (below) as a McIntyre quip brought a laugh before the delegation departed.
