Description
Caption: ROME, GA., APRIL 30--EDITORS APPEAR FOR CONTEMPT OF COURT HEARING--Atlanta Constitution Editor Ralph McGill and Managing Editor William H. Fields (right and left in left photo) appear in Floyd County Superior Court here yesterday to answer a contempt of court citation issued by Superior Court Judge H.W. Nichols (right photo). Judge Nichols ruled McGill and Fields guilty of presenting a "misleading and dishonest" story and with refusing to print a story and photograph of court record of a 1950 Floyd County traffic charge. Judge Nichols sentenced the two editors to pay fines of $200 each and serve 20 days in jail. The ruling was appealed.
