Caption: NEW POPE AS A VATICAN NUNCIO - Pope John XXIII, chosen today as Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, was an apostolic nuncio at Paris when he was caught in this intimate closeup in 1948 in the French capital. He was Monsignor Roncalli at the time. He chose John XXIII for his Papal designation.
