Caption: Abc News "World News Tonight" will mark its 10th year anniversary this july. The broadcast premiered July 10,1978, with the three-anchor format of Peter Jennings in London, the late Frank Reynolds in Washington, and Max Robinson in Chicago. Peter Jennings was named sole anchor of the broad cast in September of 1983.Pictured above clockwise: Jennings reporting from Bahrain in June, 1987, about the continuing crisis in the Persian Gulf; Jennings on the "World News of Tonight" set in Newyork; jennings reporting from Hiroshima in August of 1985 about the 40th anniversary of the atomic bomb; jennings at his office New York; Jennings and Chief White House Correspondent Sam Donaldson reporting from Moscow in may of 1988 about the Reagan.
