Caption: MILWAUKEE, SEPT. 23--FRACTURED SERIES HOPE--Milwaukee Braves rookie righthander Joey Jay displays the elaborate cast on his left ringfinger today following surgery that will keep him from pitching against the Yankees in the World Series. The finger was fractured by a line drive at St. Louis last week, and at first club officials thought he would miss only one regular turn.
